What does the lingual arch achieve?

The lingual arch is used to correct developing crowding in the lower jaw. Its most common application is in gaining space in the developing dentition by using the "E" or leeway space so that permanent tooth extractions can be avoided!

Click the "Play" button to see just how this works for correcting developing crowding in the lower arch. For this reason, it is important that a child is seen early, before key deciduous teeth "fall out".
